PlayStation has finally confirmed that it'll be hosting 2026's first State of Play broadcast later this week, on Thursday the 12th February.
Excitingly, this sounds like it's going to be a big deal. The show's set to last over an hour, and will feature "news and updates from developers across the globe".
This includes announcements from third parties, indies, and PlayStation Studios. Again, this appears to be a significant event.
The broadcast will be streamed live on YouTube and Twitch, starting at 2pm PT / 5pm ET / 10pm GMT / 11pm CEST.
We will, of course, be covering all of the news right here on Push Square, so stay tuned.

That’s a massive State of Play. I’m not going to let myself get excited. Is it weird if I don’t know if I actually want to watch it in real time and might instead opt to watch the coverage this time? I’ll probably still watch, but man I hope an hour means there’s enough time for games I like to be announced too.

Probably smart of them to drop the “PS Showcase” title and just call everything a State of Play. It helps people not raise their expectations higher than they already do.
Wolverine won't be here. Insomniac already said they won't be saying anything more about it until spring.

2. Jak and Daxter returns in a battle royale game
3. Dino Crisis 3 is given a port
4. The price of PS+ increases, with the only new addition being Fortnite bucks.
5. Media Molecule announce a Horizon spinoff
6. Sony start teasing the PS6
7. The "one more thing" of the event is Todd Howard revealing the PS5 version of Starfield.
Either I'm right or I'm happy to be wrong.
@lazarus11 yeah he said the state of play trailer which is all just quick cuts, the game looks sweet, just hoping it runs OK on consoles. I'm pretty convinced it'll be fine on PS with the amount of footage they've released (even if its PC) and how open they've been, also they had demos of it at some of the cons at the end of last year I believe. Just be nice to see a little bit of uncut console gameplay, more than likely a day one purchase for me, might even pre order
@Vorflynn I was gonna put Marathon but Bungie have mostly been doing their own marketing if it is in the SOP I'll assume Sony really are confident in the quality then. Maybe give a free weekend beta earlier.

Interesting about the length, either this means there's a lot of announcements or there's some lengthy segments like the 10 minute Marvel Tokon one in June 2025.
My expectations is like the temperature in my town incredibly low! Sony has lost me, but they gain my 4 year old. Maybe Sony won.
@SlyASpiE playstation access i think their footage of rob playing it is ps , but it looks amazing , it seems you can literally do everything , just hope its not a jack of all trades master of none game.
Not going to make predictions but an hour is exciting! Hopefully lots to show and not 2 or 3 15 minute extended gameplay trailers
Games I'd like to see but in an alternative time-line: Burnout remastered collection (with every original music track) Mercenaries 3, The Saboteur 2, Rockstar's Agent, a new Wipeout, The Getaway 3, Snowrunner 2, Gotham by Gaslight (cancelled Batman game) This is why I have no expectations but I watch either way.
I've always watched these events for the Sony exclusives only, but now that I have a PS5 Pro, I'll also be watching it for those third-party games that I will now be getting on the PlayStation instead.
Particularly looking forward to Saros update. Hopefully we will see some Wolverine and also Intergalactic.
As for third-party games, I'm already sold on Resident Evil: Requiem, but I expect that to feature. What I'd really like to see is some Control: Resonant gameplay.
I also expect to see Starfield finally announced for the PS5 seems as it'll arrive here in April...

I feel like they will tell us the release of Wolverine when they show the gameplay in spring, like they did with Spider-Man 2. And yeah, nothing filled the Uncharted's absence. It is special kind of game. Last year's Mafia: The Old Country and this year's 007 may fill that gap a but I would be so happy with a new game.

I don't have too many expectations for these as State of Play's do tend to be rather consistently disappointing overall but something with Capcom (that isn't RE9 or Monster Hunter XD) or Castlevania would make me a very happy chappy indeed 🙏
@lazarus11 looking at the second video they've got of gameplay (the mission one not the boss battles) I think it might be PS as there's a fair bit of pop in when you look and maybe less particle effects, still looks amazing tho and more importantly running smoothly (must contain my hype lol)

1.Bloodborne 1 remake + 2 bundle announcement
2. Horizon 3 (like the real one, not the one with the animated fat lunch lady)
3. Alan Wake 3 shadow drop
4. Capcom announces new 2D Phoenix Wright
5. Lorne Lanning appears and mindwipes all "Men in black" style, removes the latest Abe game from all storefronts and replaces it with a new good entry
6. Business announcement: Herman is sent back to the Netherlands to grow tulips on his uncle's farm and Shu is back as new co-CEO
7. Beyond good and Evil 2 release date in a month, and the game is actually good
8. Jade Raymond is finally arrested for embezzlement and money laundering and put behind bars... In Siberia...
9. PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale 2 with X-box characters
One more thing:
10. Gaben appears and announces Half-Life 3, PS5 exclusive, launching the same day as GTA6
Anything less and I am going to dub this worst State of Play ever...
@Corc11 deethloop lol I remember that well as long as a 2d god of war game and hopefully a new sony exclusive gets announced plus native ps3 backwards compatibility would be massive but I expect none of them as long as its not 20 mins on the new horizon multiplayer game or any other live service announcement ill be happy

i think they'll finally announce starfield for ps5 along with 2.0 update , a ps5 update to detriot becomes human would be a nice surprise though ( with ps5 pro bonus's) , maybe we can get a hint or a tease of what sony studios is being so secretive about with some of their studios.
Hope that they don't spend too much time on games we already know about. Should be an interesting one
I literally only want Kingdom Hearts 4 stuff, anything else I want is welcome though.
